Highlights of the Emerald Coast - Fort Walton Beach

Unfolding along Florida's panhandle is a beautiful region called the Emerald Coast. Its name comes from the sparkling green waters of the Gulf of Mexico that abut its sandy shores. The Emerald Coast begins in Pensacola to the west, and stretches 100 miles east to Panama City. Midway between them lies the real heart of the Emerald Coast: the sister cities of Destin and Fort Walton Beach. Flanking the outlet where the wide, beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay flows into the Gulf, these cities provide a prime vacation destination. Although Destin is fast becoming quite popular and upscale, if you enjoy a more down-to-earth atmosphere, you should check out Fort Walton Beach. If you're looking for a remarkable beach vacation in a town with a laid-back attitude, you'll enjoy your time here, and you'll never run out of things to do. Start your planning with the fine Fort Walton Beach vacation rentals.

The main attraction near Fort Walton Beach hotels is the spectacular shoreline. The beaches here are clean, soft, and white. They've been named the "safest in the country," as well as making "most beautiful beaches" lists. They're so addicting that you may find yourself simply unwinding each day with the sun on your face and your toes in sand, enjoying a light breeze and the sound of waves rolling in to shore. Maybe you'll rouse yourself to do some shelling or build a sand castle. The length of the shoreline near your Fort Walton Beach vacation rental is lined with coastal dunes. Ranging up to 50 feet high, these the dunes are particularly susceptible to human encroachment. Thus, more than 60 percent of them are protected by law, so you can stroll along them in their pristine, natural state right in front of your cozy inn.

The warm emerald waters of the Gulf may invite you in. With so much water all around your hotel, you'll find plenty of water recreation to enjoy. Although this area of the Gulf of Mexico is too far north for coral reefs, there are numerous artificial reefs and shipwrecks, even airplanes, to explore, so scuba diving or snorkeling in the clear water is a delight. You may be joined by manta rays, dolphins, or large loggerhead sea turtles. If you prefer to remain on top of the water, you can still view the sea life in a glass-bottom boat tour. Perhaps you'll spend a day away from your Fort Walton Beach lodging on a deep sea fishing cruise.

Freshwater fishing is abundant here, as well, with some bayous and various area rivers providing many choices. The Blackwater River is popular for canoeing, tubing or kayaking. You'll find beautiful areas on land as well. You might visit nearby Eden State Gardens, a hundred-year-old estate overlooking Choctawhatchee Bay. The moss-draped oak trees and picturesque gardens of azaleas and camellias transport to an earlier time. There's even sightseeing underground. You can head to Marianna from your Fort Walton Beach vacation rental to tour the Florida Caverns, the only limestone caverns in the state.

Delray Beach Florida - A Great Place For a Family Vacation

If you are considering a vacation to Florida, you should consider staying in Delray Beach. Located between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach on Florida's southeast coast Delray Beach offers something for everyone. There are several large hotels and numerous bed and breakfasts for you to choose from.

The most obvious attraction here is of course the beach. Delray has over two miles of pristine beaches. Most of the beaches offer easy public access with ample parking (weekends can be a parking problem - get there early). Delray Beach has been designated a Blue Wave Beach from the Clean Beaches Council. This prestigious award is only given to those beaches that are kept clean and are managed well. When in Delray you have to take a swim in the sparkling blue Atlantic waters that gently lap the sand.

After playing hard at the beach all day you will be hungry. You are in luck, as we have much to offer in the way of dining. Whether you prefer a quick crepe prepared at your beach side table, a deluxe burger served with a frozen cocktail, or even a filet mignon with cream sauce, it is all available just a short walk from your beach umbrella. Atlantic Avenue is where most of the dining is concentrated and you will not be left hungry after stopping into any of these great restaurants. Your biggest problem is likely to be deciding which one to eat at.

Once you are "beached out" and fed, why not visit on of Delray Beaches other famous attractions? The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is among the most popular places to visit. This stunning attraction offers 6 different Japanese gardens and a Japanese cultural center that has been the epicenter of Japanese culture in South Florida since 1977. This has been a very popular venue for weddings and special events and is highly recommended. You will not be disappointed with your visit to Morikami.

Delray Beach offers some of the finest golf and tennis in Florida. The world famous Virginia Slims Tennis Invitational is held here every year. Access to some of the courses can be tricky as many are privately owned. Ask your hotel concierge which course they suggest and they should be able to get you on. In the summer months you should plan on playing first thing in the morning as there will usually be some afternoon thunderstorms that will ruin you afternoon outting.

After your long day at play you may be tempted to just go to sleep. If you did that you would be missing a great part of Delray....the stellar nightlife. Delray is host to some of South Florida's premier restaurants and night clubs. Simply head back to Atlantic Avenue and start walking. There are literally hundreds of eateries and night clubs for you to choose from. You can party until the wee hours of the morning and be completely safe as Delray Beach boasts one of the lowest crime rates in Florida.

As you can see, we have something for every member of your family. Just remember to smile and be friendly and the people here will return the favor. We can't wait to see you on the beach

Discount Florida Vacations - Florida Beach Review Thumbs Up Destinations

**Our favorite beach and a consensus among others, has to be Clearwater Beach Florida. Of the dozens of beaches in Florida we have vacationed at, Clearwater is our comparison. This is also a popular spot for two other beach lover friends of ours. They will pack up their belongings for a weekend and fly down there to spend a couple days eating at Crabby Bills, touring the town, relaxing on the white-sandy beaches, and enjoying the Gulf of Mexico.

If you enjoy water everywhere you look, sun shining constantly, and a relaxed atmosphere with great food and entertainment, Clearwater if for you.

**South Beach Miami is our second Florida beach review destination.

In all honesty, you can't write an article or mention a Florida beach without talking about South Beach. The Cuban culture that surrounds this south-eastern spot is a hot spot of the rich and famous.

Hot bodies are located everywhere, quick paced, an amazing nightlife, and all the excitement needed for one trip is located here. Movies and television shows have been filmed here, a diet is named after it, and it is within close proximity to other great beach destinations if you choose to drive the coast on highway A1A.

Offering crystal clear water, plenty of history, more than enough to do, and an overall excellent vacation for any traveler, Miami is a definite and gets an A+ on our Florida beach review.

**Destin Florida is atop our Florida beach review. Spending many family vacations there growing up, the landscape and layout of Destin is beautiful. Plenty of golf and water activities portray this great beach on the Panhandle.

Some Favorite Family Beach Vacation Locations

You'll find a lot of different great beach locations all over the world, but there are just a few that really stand out as some of my favorites!

On the West Coast of Maui, you and your family can enjoy a great game of golf. The Kapalua Resort typically give their guests lower golf rates than those who don't stay at their resort; usually 25-30% discount. The Kapalua Resort includes the Kapalua Bay Hotel, the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, and the Kapalua Villas.

The Napili Kai is only one bay over from the Kapalua Bay. This is beach resort is a low rise family resort that offers super nice beach front condos. They also give complimentary children programs for kids through the ages of 6 - 12 from June to August, and during Christmas and Easter. These neat condos are only seconds away from the beach, and they include laundry facilities as well as a kitchen.

For those who prefer a much more secluded setting, the Maui Prince Hotel can be found in a nice quiet area surrounded by a couple of beautiful golf courses and a huge sandy beach where your kids can enjoy themselves practically all day long.

Another great family adventure idea can be found on the island of Molokai. Molokai is filled with empty beaches because of very few tourists and zero traffic lights. Most tourists come only for a day, with some coming to the island just assuming they were going to a snorkeling site near Maui, which is called Molokini.

Molokai is mainly for those folks who like adventure in the outdoors. So when you come to Molokai, don't expect night life or even shopping.

Remember, when planning a trip to the island of Molokai, it is accessible only by airplane from Honolulu, or by ferry from Maui.

Another fabulous family beach vacation idea is to visit the Breakers Hotel in beautiful sunny Palm Beach Florida.

The Breakers Hotel is set along a half mile of sandy beach, and offers a golf course, a spa, and a separate pool for your kids. Plus, there's a family entertainment center with children's programs. You can reserve up to five adjoining rooms in the Breakers Hotel while kids under the age of sixteen stay for free if they stay in the same room with their parents.

Sanibel Beaches Should Win For Best in Florida

Every year, Dr. Beach, aka Dr. Stephen Leatherman, Director of Florida International University's Laboratory for Coastal Research issues his pronouncement of the best beaches in America. Generally, at least 3 of Florida's beaches make the list. The anticipation of the pronouncement is keen, to say the least.

But the popularity of announcing best beaches has gone much beyond the trend began by Dr. Letterman years ago.

There are pronouncers of best beaches sprouting up as quickly as beaches can be found.

The Travel Channel did a show not too long ago that had great visual appeal. Because it was a filmed feature and not reliant on still photography, the program really put Florida in a whole new light. The visuals were awesome and would make some question why they would ever leave the state of Florida to go to a beach anywhere else.

The show featured the top ten beaches in Florida and gave the reasons for why each was chosen to be on the list:

10 - Daytona Beach: activities and driving up and down the beach
9 - Sanibel Island (Gulf side): sea shell collecting
8 - Panama City: Spring Break
7 - Sandspur Beach (Bahia Honda): Nature preserve
6 - Smathers Beach (Key West): island-style
5 - Clearwater Beach: boating, even a pirate cruise
4 - Lover's Key Beach (outside Ft. Myers): seclusion/couples (Lover's Key Beach Club Resort)
3 - Palm Beach: living the high life, shopping (The Breakers Hotel)
2 - Siesta Key Beach: soft sand (Sand Sculpture Contest)
1 - South Beach (Miami): international scene (latin influence), winter fashion, non-stop nightlife

A life long beach lover and unofficial beach rater for many years and from many countries and continents, I would really have to question this rationale. I mean, seriously, would someone really go to a beach because they could drive their car up and down the beach?

I go to beaches to escape cars (and noise and traffic)!
Similarly, I don't need a beach to go to a beautiful hotel, go shopping, party or mingle with the rich and famous. Cities are made for scenes like this.

Try a Longboat Florida Beach Vacation Rental in the Near Future

Vacation rentals can include condominiums, townhouses, homes, and resorts, all of which are available in abundance in near Florida's most beloved beaches. Snorkeling, boating, and scuba diving are just a few of the various activities that can be experienced off the coast of Florida's sandy shores, and there are even more things to do on land. Whatever your idea of a sunny, dream vacation may be, it's likely that the Orange State will easily satisfy all of your holiday wishes.

Longboat Key is located off of Florida's west central coast on a barrier island after which it was named. The city is within a reasonable distance of three different beaches, including Bradenton, Holmes, and Anna Maria. The Gulf of Mexico is also nearby, along with many other vacation retreats in the area. Rental homes, condominiums, and townhouses are perfect for vacation spots in Longboat Key and are very reasonably priced relative to their value and the average rate for hotels in the surrounding area.
There are several other communities in the vicinity of Longboat Key that also offer vacation rentals for great prices. Siesta Key, another barrier island, is one of these communities. With a little over 7,000 year-round residents, Siesta Key is an especially popular vacation spot for couples who are looking to simply kick back and relax. Homes for rent are available all year long, typically ranging between one and five bedrooms. Rental condos are also a popular choice and can be found with up to five or more bedrooms as well.

Venice and Sarasota are just two of the several other communities near Longboat Key that offer great vacation rental options. Many of the homes and rental condos in these areas come equipped with private pools or spas and are often pet friendly, just in case you want to bring an extra member of your family along for fun in the sun. A majority of the rental properties in these areas are also within walking distance of the beautiful beaches that hug the barrier islands, so you may be quite comfortable not renting a car or even bringing your own.

As with many other popular vacation destinations, there are a number of resorts that you can choose to rent during your trip to Florida. Because resort lodging is often comprised of more than one renting party, they can sometimes charge an even better price that private rental homes and condos. You'd be surprised how reasonable prices really can be for all of these types of rental properties. Rental periods will vary depending on the property, so you will likely be able to remain in your Florida vacation rental property for as short or long a time as you'd like.

Florida Beach Vacation and a Stay at Home

All is well. The soothing sound of the waves crashing up against the Florida beach cause you to drift into a state somewhere half way between sleep and being awake. The only other sound you can hear is the call of seagulls souring over the water.

You open your eyes and see the orange glow of the sun on the horizon as it rises. You close your eyes again as the cool sea breeze flows over your body. Yes, the temperature will rise as the day goes on, but now it's 75 degrees and the sea breeze makes it feel five to ten degrees cooler.

You've repeated this routine on several vacations over the past couple years. Europe, Hawaii, South Pacific...just a few places you and your family have visited over the past years.

As you walk back to the hotel you notice that you are the only one enjoying the beach on this heavenly morning. Looking at the street you realize why. Men and women are in suits and ties, carrying brief cases, all going to work. You smile as you remember that there was a time that you lived like that too. Then you took advantage of a stay at home mom's business opportunity and your life has never been the same.

You meet up with your husband and children back at the hotel. You're son seems to have a smile from ear to ear as he waits in eager anticipation for the days events. You all depart together to the marina where you will spend the whole day sailing on the ocean.

Cruising on the ocean, the wind blowing in your face, you and your family drop anchor near one of the many reefs off the Florida coast. Jumping in with mask and snorkel, you marvel at the sparkling of the sun off the coral. It is so stunning that, for a moment, you feel as if you have discovered an old sunken Spanish galleon.

You return to land and back to the hotel. This is not like the hotels you used to say in when you were on vacation. Five stars, multiple bedrooms, penthouse view overlooking both the beach and the city. Just a few years ago you thought that if you became a stay at home mom you would never be able to stay in any hotel other than a simple two star with a bed. Yet, your stay at home mom's business opportunity allowed you to be a stay at home mom AND have the money to take vacations you once only dreamed of.

After cleaning up, you all go out on the town for a first class dinner. Not Pizza Hut or some other low cost diner...that was several years ago. Instead, you enjoy the finest French cuisine. There is no concern about cost. Each of you orders anything and everything you want. It's the perfect end to yet another day on your Florida beach vacation.

Florida Beaches - Discover the Hidden Beauty

Whenever it comes to beaches in Florida, a lot of tourists assume of a congested spots in which they are unable to see the sand, too many families going free, and drunken college students roaming throughout the sand. This can at times be difficult to find in the finest hidden beaches, the places exactly where it is a lot easier to discover a wonderful sight rather than a number of other tourists. Although it may appear hard to think, Florida actually got quite a few just like this.

Think about State beaches rather than of local beaches. There are usually unencumbered by the high rise hotels, congested shopping areas, as well as bulk amounts of other tourists. The majority of tourists are likely to believe of northern Florida for the perfect beaches, yet this is actually a tiny piece of heaven in the southern portion of the state. The recreation area has 524 acres of land, along with fantastic areas for snorkeling and crystal clear, fresh water. The recreation are charges $4 for every automobile and 50 cents for each individual for a daily admittance.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area in Miami is actually another great hidden beach in Florida. Whenever tourists imagine of Miami, they assume of expensive priced dining places, costly hotels, and a glamorous nightlife. Believe it or not, even Miami offers a hidden beach with Bill Baggs. The beach includes a lighthouse built in 1825, a long way of clean sand, and an awesome break free out of the hustle and bustle of the city. The park costs $5 each day entrance for every vehicle.

And also consider a glimpse at Naples Beach in Naples, Florida. This beach has a 10 mile area that extends directly in front of Millionaire's Row. While walking around down the beach, you could get a glance of the historical past simply by watching the mansions. This beach frequently has a deserted and remote feeling to it, even for the duration of the most frantic periods of the day. With miles of beaches, it can be effortless to discover a space to take pleasure in the sites and sounds of the marine, without battling through a group of individuals. Best of all, the beach costs absolutely no admission.

In Sarasota, Florida start looking for Siesta Beach. This beach is the tiniest on the listing, at only a fraction of a mile and 500 feet broad, but it is also one of the most beautiful and secluded. The sand is much softer as compared to any you've actually experienced in your existence; it's so soft that it nearly feels just like wandering on flour. The beach also has excellent swimming with minimal possibility of an underflow, and a lifeguard on accountability. It may occasionally get a little bit of crowded during the summer time; however you will find no far better option throughout the off season.

A better option for tourists searching for the ideal remote beach spot is Caladesi Island State Park within Dunedin, Florida. The beach can not permit automobiles on site, which deters a few tourists and has a very secluded feel. It's the excellent place for bird viewing, floating around, and the possibility to get out from the hectic life of other beaches in Florida. The only method to arrive at the beach is via ferry, and admission is $4 for every vehicle and $7 for every adult.

There are a bunch of secluded Florida beaches for tourists seeking to get away from the hustle and bustle of hectic family oriented spots in the state.
